Someone shoot me now please

Well here's me looking forward to a fabulous new year and a year full of better luck than the last one when I go and ruin it all by running straight into the wheel of my wheely tote bag, of course I had no shoes on. As I shrieked in pain I bent down to grab the hurting area to see my little toe at a strange angle from the middle joint, I touched it and click click click it went straight again then I was on the floor crying like a baby.

Happy New Year from me and my broken toe!

Stampotique Challenge 45

I haven't joined in with a Stampotique Challenge for a while but this one caught my eye. This challenge is to show our dreams, hopes and wishes so I figured that moon girl would be perfect for that. I have only one dream/hope/wish for next year and that is for it to be far better than this year, which lets face it wont be hard to fulfil.

This is a page in my small music journal where I make pages influenced by songs, this particular song is REM, man on the moon. Images stamped with Ranger Archival Black onto vintage music paper.

Stamps used: Moon girl, Great Moon
Background: Crafty Notions Spraypaque Quartz, Shake'n'Spray Plumluscious

WOYWW Last one for 2011

What a long strange trip this year has been, it has had more low's than high's but fingers crossed for a great 2012. On my desk today I have my small 7gypsies ''music'' journal. In this journal I like to do fast pages on songs that I like or like to make fun of in some cases. Here is my latest page. Happy New Year!

The end of a journal

I have been working in this journal and completed my first page on the 19th January 2010. It feels very strange that I have now finished it - apart from the odd touch up here and their as I get new toys to play with of course. It has been a strange trip, some of the pages have lot of meaning and vent lots of anger, some are just pretty and fun. I have very mixed feelings about this book, its only a book but it has come everywhere with me for almost 2 years. Not sure why I feel strange but I do, maybe a page for my next journal ehh?

WOYWW

What's on my desk today? A whole heap of a mess! I stupidly decided to die cut chipboard Christmas shapes and glitter them for my pressie tags, taking longer than I thought it would! Word to the wise don't do it!!!! Oh and a spinney thing that I have wanted forever and found cheap instead of £40 for a brand named one.

Dina Weekend Day 3

The last day on Dina's workshop at AFTH was so much fun and alittle sad too as it was coming to an end. We painted, we scribbled and generally had a blast, here are my efforts some finished, some not.

WOYWW - Love potion number 9 bottle

This week on my desk, technically my shelf because I had a hell of a time photographing it is my finally finished altered bottle that I have been doing with the most fabulous Andy Skinner. I didn't have all the supplies he used as I improvised on a few, in the spirit of using what you have and I am more than happy with the outcome. The label is from Waltzing Mouse Stamps and is the Wanda's Pantry set.

Dina Workshop Day 2 - Coptic stitched book

Day 2 at the Dina Wakley workshop over at Art From the Heart saw us making fabulously textured pages and a coptic stitch bound book. This is the first time I have done this kind of binding so I was very happy yo have a go!

My front cover involves lots of texture and many many layers of paint combined with stamping and doodling. All stamps were Dina stamps produced by Stampington and available at Art From the Heart in the UK.

This is my book open so you can get an idea of the many different pages and textures. And below are pictures of the individual pages, as you can tell it is not finished yet, but I don't think it ever will be. The subject is your past, present and future.

The final picture is of my coptic stitch. Very happy with the result!

Dina workshop Day 1

Friday was the start of a wonderful weekend at AFTH with the most fabulous Dina Wakley.  The first day was all about drawing birdies Dina style, something I had asked her to do so I was so chuffed she choose to teach it to us! This is my first practice piece on water colour paper.

This is my finished piece on a wood framed canvass. Totally awesome day full of fun and laughter and learning. I foresee a birdy journal in my future.

Commission Work

I had recently been asked for help with a proposal, the proposal has now been made and accepted! So I can put this on my blog. I made part of this on my Ustream show but didn't get chance to finish it their so here are the photos of the finished project with ring included

The ladies name is Julia, the poem is ''A Ring for Julia'' that I came cross completely by accident in a vintage book shop, I actually dropped the book and it opened on this page when I picked it up. The idea of the presentation was then born.

You can click on the pictures to enlarge them and get a good look at the ring if you wish to see it, isn't it pretty!

London Visit

Rich and I took a trip last week to visit the in-laws in Haslemere, just outside of London. We decided to go by train so we headed off on the long trip from Huddersfield train station, when we got to Wakefield station for our connection to London the announcers were practically yelling for everyone to stand back, me being my usual gormless self wondering why eventually decided to look in the direction everyone else was looking. Low and behold a vintage stream train named the Oliver Cromwell was pulling into the station! How awesome is that! Here are some pictures of it

So we get to London and then crossed it after what felt like an age, pulled into Waterloo station so I get my tourist on and start taking pictures, much to Rich's disgust! He actually pretended he was not with me! Gotta love that Victorian architecture in the stations!

Once we got to Haslemere and got picked up, another two hour long trek we got to his parents home to be greeted by this:

Monty the 13week old black Labrador, cute as a button! Much fun was had between us! We went to a lovely beach, I forget the name, somewhere near Portsmouth and we went into London to do a bit of sight seeing and shopping.

London Eye
Victoria and Albert Museum

So now I am home, have been a couple of days but its been pretty mental around here, Rich starting a new job and changing rooms around and lots of work to catch up on! People to see, people to shout at, the usual!

Fabulous weekend!

What a fabulous weekend spent at Art From the Heart. Saturday was mini journalling with the lovely Kate Crane, the usual suspects attended and much fun was had by all. I also got to meet my lovely internet friend GezzyB who is officially no longer only an internet friend! I had the best time ever on Saturday! Here is what I created, not very much you say, I would agree I spent far too much time yabbering!

Sunday was again at Art From the Heart, this time for journalling regulars group, only 5 of us could make it this month but oh my it was a blast! I completed the challenge in class for a change and we spent the whole day laughing our little butts off to old Victoria Wood comedy sketches, here is I can safely say everyone favourite sketch. Ahh you couldn't do that on the BBC now a days!

And this was a project I completed earlier today live on Ustream. Lots of fun!

And to end some random journal pages I have completed recently!

So I had better get a motor on and finish packing my bags, we are off to London tomorrow for a week visiting the in-laws. Have fun everyone and stay safe in these storms!
